A few days before our grand opening, we hosted a little dinner for handful of friends and members of the local business community. We wished we could invite everybody, but it was one of those dry-runs where we try out new stuff on our favourite victims before unleashing it on the general public. We had just finalized our new menu and wanted to get some hands-on experience in the kitchen and front-of-house before throwing the doors open to the whole neighbourhood.
The night went quickly – guests arrived around 7pm, had a cocktail and were seated by 8. We offered full à la carte entrées from our dinner menu; and we served up a full range of desserts, which were a highlight for most of our guests. Our dessert menu offers a wide variety of tasty morsels by our pastry chef, John Bex (about whom we can’t say enough good things). Rather than serve huge deserts at the price of an entrée, we let our guests choose a taste of each at a reasonable price. So, even if you don’t have a hollow leg, you can still treat yourself to something sweet (or tart) after a savory meal.
Below are some photos of the kitchen, the crowd, and the food of the evening. The comment process is never over, and we welcome any constructive criticism or ideas our guests may have about our menu… after all, cooking is at its best when people enjoy eating!
